Ver.4. our p ir:tual Conditipn. -28t Now there are Two wages whereby the Lord jails Chrift gives forth his d cretory fentence in this matter, I. By his Word. He determines in the Word of the G(fÿel of the fiate and condition of all men indefinitely. Each Indi- vidual coming to that Word, receives his own fentence and doom, He told the Jews that Mofès accufed them, John 5.45. His Law accufed and condemned the tranfgrciIórs of it. And fo doth he acquit every one that is difcharged, by the Word of the Gofpel. And our filf- judging; is but our receiving byfaith his Sentence in the Word. His proafs herein we have re- corded, Job 33. 22,.23. His reel (that is of the ìttncr) draw- eth near to the grave, and his 1fe to the deltroyers ; This teems to be his (late; it is fo indeed ; he is at the very brink of the grave and hell. What then ; why if there be with him, or ftand over him , 0/.? 1t?`7g the Angel interpretinU, or the Angel of the Covenant, who alone is 95rí7-1 ?P the one of a thoufand; what (hall he doe ? He (hall (hew unto biro his uprightnefl. He (hall give in unto him a right determination of his intereft in God, and of the (late and frame of his heart towards God ; whereupon God (hall fpeak peace unto his Soul, and deliver him from his entanglements, v. 24. Jefus Chrift hath in the Word of the GofPel (toted the condition of every man. He tells us, that fanners, of what fort foever they are, that believe, are accepted with him ; and (hall receive for- givenefs from God; that none pall be refufd or call off that come unto God by him. The Soul of whom we are treating is now upon the work of coming unto God for forgivenefs by Jefus Chrift. Many and weighty Objeeions it hath in and againft its fell, why it fhould not come, why it (hill not be accepted. Our Lord Jefus the Wifdomof God forefaw all thefe Obje6 ions; he fóreknew what could be (aid in the cafe, and yet he hash determined the matter, as hath been declared. In General, mens arguings againft themfelves arife from Sin and the Law. Chrift knower what is in them both. He tryed them to the uttermo(t, as to their penalties; and yet he hath fo de- termined as we have (hewed. Their particular ObjeUions, arc from particular confiderations of fin ; their Greatnefs, their Number, their Aggravations. Chrift knows all thefe alto ; 0 o And
