Ver.4. brace andNature dièernable. Image in the Inward man, the fame heavenly light in their minds , the fame affec` ions; and being thus prepared and enabled to Judge and difcernof the State of each other, in ref ference unto their mutual duties, they have moreover the true Rule of the Word to Judge of all Spirits and Spiritual effed}s by. And this is the ground of all that love without diffintulati- on and real Communion that is among the Saints of God in this World. But here two Cautions muff be allowed, I. That we would not 7udle the State andCondition of anymen in they world, no further than we are called thereunto in a wayof Duty ; and we are fo called only with reference unto the Duties that we are to perform towards them. What have we to do to Judge them that are without, that is any one that we have not a call to confider in reference unto our own Duty. Herein that great Rule takes place; Judge net, that ye be not judged. Let us leave all men, the worts of men, uníets where evident duty requires other adings, to the Judgement feat of God. They are the Servants of another, and they Rand or fall unto their ownMauer. There have been great mifcarri- ages amongfl: us in this matter, Come have been ready to con- demn all that gonot along with them in every principle, yea opinion or practice. And every day flight occafions and pro- voca =ions, are made the grounds and reafons of revere éen- fures. But nothing is more contrary to the condue`r of the` meek and holy Spirit of Chrifi. This is our Rule ; are wa called to AFB towards any as Saints, as living Members of the body of Chriti, and that in fuch Duties as we cannot perferrn in faith, unlefs we are perfwaded that fo they are, then are we on the grounds, andby the wages before mentioned, to fatisfie our (elves in one another. 2. Dowe endeavour mutually to difcern the condition of one another, in reference unto fuch Ends ; Let Rs be fore to look unto, and purfue thofe ends whenwe have attained our Sa- tisfaaiön. What thefe ends are hath been thewed. It is that we may love them roitbout diffimulation, as merrbersi of the fame mytiical body with.us;: that we may naturally -take care of them, and for them ; that we may delight fincerely in them that we mayMustier unto their wants, Temporal and Spioi Xx tual 339
