But the experienced Believer,as he bath a fweeter title to thefe things ; fo he may raite up his Praifes for them to an higher firain than other Men ; not only Paying, Blef- fed be God and his Providence for filch and fuch things,but bleffed be God and his Promiff alfo: All good things as well thofe of this life, as thofe of the other ilfue out of the Covenant of Grace. You will fay, the Believer cannot yet make this experiment ; for though he have fome of the Temporal Bleflìngs mentioned in the Promifes,yet often and ordinarily he wants other of them. To which I anfwer, The Pro- mifes of Temporal Bleflìngs are not abfolute, but carry a tacit limitation of expediency.The main deign of the Promifes is Mans Salvation, and to this Temporals are not, as Spirituals are, limply neceffary; but only have a remote tendency thereunto, and that not of them- felves, but as they are over -ruled by God,who makes omnia cgoperari in bonum, all things work, together for good to them that love hire. And hence the Believer expec`ls from the Promifes no other meafure or proportion n outward things than what may conduce to his Salvati- on; and becaufe he knows not what that mea- lure or proportion is, he refers himfelf to the Wifdona and Faithfulnefs of God to order all for his good : and hence God ,cloth not fulfil Fro mires of Temporals as he loth thofe of Spi-
