A Believer may find that he hath there refembling fruits in himfelf, and withal that, unlefs the Son of God had been incarnate, none of the would have been ; no new Creature, but all men lying in the old rubbifh of the Fall; no Union, but an unpaffable gulf fuch as is between Heaven and Hell 5 no fpiritual Subfiltence, but a corrupt one upon the dregs of Free -will ; no heavenly Fulnefs, but a va- cuity of all Grace : And from hence he may have an- experimental proof of Chrilis Incar- nation, the Mystical Union being a proof of the Hypoflatical, and God manifeft in the Spi- rit of God manifefi in the Flefh. St. John lays down this as a glorious Truth, That Jefus Chrift it the Son of God, a John 5.5. and for proof of it he produces fix Witneffes; Three in Heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghoft, ver. 7. and Three on earth, the Spirit, and the Water, and the Blood, ver. 8. By the Spirit we may underftand the holy Spirit breathing in the Scripture, and witneffing in the heart; by the Water the fan6fifying Graces and thole Pealed in Baptifm ; and by. the Blood the precious Sufferings of Chrift which paci6e the Confcience: A Believer may experience all there three WitnefTes on Earth, and fo may experience the Incarnation of Chrift. But to go on unto this of the Incarnation, I fhall add two inftances more touching Chrift ; the one
