zo6 Pauls Converfion. thinkes hee Elands in need of nothing , but when a man is brought to fee hell, hee will cry for Chrifl and grace, then he will prize things according to their worth, then hee will fee fuch excellencies in Chrifl, that he never law in any thing elfe; fuch an infiniteneffe of puritie and holineffe, fuch aboun- danceoffanèìification and redemption, fuch joy, fuch glory, and fuch pleafure, fuch love, fuch con - tent,as is not in any thing elfe ; now hee will deny the world, profit,or pleafure, or any thing elfe, and feeke, depend, and truft wholly in Chrifl. Fifthly, to receive the Gofpel, is, to doe and fufkr what is commanded him, as Paul in this place, Lord, what wilt thou have me to doe-? as if he fhould fay; I am ready both to doe and fuffer whatfoever thou wilt have mee, and Paul was as good as his word, as appeared by thofe reproches and fufferings that hee bare for Chrifl , alwayes making ready to lay downe his life for Chrifl, now fuch adifpofition no man will. have , fuch a thing no man will doe till he be firfl humbled.Yet as I laid, a man may doe fome things as the dead hand of the Dyall, it may perhaps point right at one flroke without the help of the m after- wheeles, but to goe round and milfe none it cannot; fo a carnal' man may hit upon Come good dutie, that God commands, and refraine fome finne, that God forbids, but to goe through hee cannot, to take up reproach and difgrace, to lofe his credit, to for - fake his friends, to lofe honour, and riches, and pleafures, this he will not doe, till he be humbled; therefore
