The Qf the Law 387 was not the primary intention ofthe Law, but onely a fecondary and fubfequent ac9 upon the failing of the principali. For I doubt not but the Lord accounteth himfelfe more gloryfied by the Alive and voluntary fervices, than by the Paffive and enforced fufferings of the Creature. Herein faith our Saviour,is my Fatherglo- rified, that you bring forth much fruite. Secondly, confider the Law by it fefe and in its pri- mary intention, and fo there are two principall ufes for which it ferves. We know, faith the Apofile, that whatfoever things the Law faith, it faith to thole that are under the Law ; that every mouth may be flopped, and all the World may become guilty be- fore God.
