The fecond Ground is the Corruption of nature, which maketh bitter and uncleane every thing that toucheth it. It polluteth holy flefh, much more will it pollute órdina- rie things. We reade of a Roule which was fweet in the mouth, but bitternef e in the belly : Such are the Crea- tures ; in the bowels of men, their hearts and confcien- ces ( which are the Seminaries of Corruption) they turne into gall, how -ever in the mouth they have fome fïnatch of honey in them. The reafon why the fame propor- tion is nnfiiflïcicnt for a Prince, which is abundant for a private rnan, is, bccaufc the occafions of the Prince are more vat +, maflìe, and numerous than the occafions of a privare man.
