Stnt · ~I . Triumph of Fai;h; . .,_7f. the Lioht of Faith even as a Lantern, or a Dayfiar in~ cloudy Dawning, leadeth thee up to this. z. Chrift in tyou the hope ofGlory. How m them? ;By Faith, Col. i. 2 7. Chrifl the hope of Glory, _is Chrift the Glory hoped for by a F1gure ; that js; Faith putteth Chrift an-'1 Heaven in you by Hope: So in the .J3eliever there is Chtift the Lamb, the Throne, the glorified Angels, and :!in1efs anp. ble{fed Muftcians that ftand in a Circle about the Throne, prai:!ing him that liveth for ever. All thefe are in the Believer by 'Faith ; and in him is Heav~n, the Tree ofLif::, the high~r Paradife, the River of VI ater of Life ; unto all thefe Faith entitleth the Soul, and they be all nothing to Chri.ft the Hope of Glory: Even the only begotten Sort and Heir of a King, is called the Hope of his Houfe, the onlyHope of his Houfe; but' m Regard the Heirs ofmortal Kings, are mortal the Houfe is weak, and ftandeth but upon one Foot, when he bath but one mortal Heir. Now, 'tis the infinite Perfetl:ion of God, that he can have but one Son who is infinite, and the fame eternal and immortal God wirh the Father, a.nd that he cannot die. So Chrifl ftandeth the only Hope of the Houfe of Heaven; a King by Hope, the King of Hope; and all Hope of the Captives and Sons of Hope; and all the Glory of hi<:: Father's HQuie hang~rh upon him. Chr~(l hath an ·the Heirs up,.; on his Shoulder, and Faitb invefteth the Believer to arl this Power and Glory. 2 . Faith muft be fo much the more precious, that it layeth hold, fer its PoO'eilion, on God, and on the Garland, Marrow (if a~y comparifon here can ftand) and Flower of all God's Attributes, the Righteoufhds of Chrijl . 2 .
