Befide that, a deluding Spirit for the moit Part, doth n~tgo every Way along with the \Vord: If this Spirit keep God's Order, to work upon the humbled and felf-defpairing Sinner, who i~ willing to receive Chrift upon his own Condition, it is -not like to a deluding Spirit; for if th~ Word ' ofCommandment to believe, and the Spirit agree in one, it cannot be a Delufiory, Fancy leadeth no Man to Faith. z. When Objects of Life work uponLife, they cannot deceive, efpeciail y all the Senks, Hearing, SeeingTafting,feelJO~, Smellinr.: : The Excellency and fweetnefs of Chrift go- ' .ing along with the Word, cannot be Delufion ; a 'Man 'may imagine that he feeth and heareth, .and yet his Senfes may be deceived, But that alt the Senfes, efpecially, all the ipiritual Senfes; a11d that a Man imapine~h that he liveth a Ilatural Life and is dep.d~ is rare. 3· Faith can ftand t1pon one Foot, even on a g~neral V/ord ; hence this is a Go:fpel Word 1n the Prophets, which requireth, Faith: Turn to the Lord for /:Je is merriful, Jer. iii. 12.
