In allfach beleeuers will Chrifl be glorified, in communicating to them the glorie of the Kingdome, which hee bath promifed. To this purpofe Scriptures fpeake pregnantly, Iohn 3. 16,;6. t lohn s. t o, t t, 12, 13. &c. There bee who enlarge promifes ffreiten precepts. The promife of life they fuppofe made to all beleeuers, howfoeuer entertaining into their Aflent, the dodhine of faith publifhed in Scripture; the faith required, is fuppo- fed to be a bare and naked affent to diuine Reuelations, without care of good life. Again(} thefe is S. lames, cap.a. tot. and Augustine. There be that ffreiten promifes, enlarge precepts; alas, to how much perplexitie of their foule ? As if faith required, were ofneceffitie to be, of all Articles and cir- cumflánces thereof, explicite; fo firme and GGeddie at all times, as neuer to conflia with Infidelitie : to filch faith onely; in their opinion, belong ;the promifes. But then faid the Prophet in vaine,he( hall not quench the k fmoaking flaxe : Then that's falle, that the Goff)ell requires Truth, not perfeïlionof faith and other venues. Then are not 'In- fants in Grace, Gods children ; nor Chriff propitiatour for imperfeaions in gracious pradtiíe. And yet as he is Author offaluation to mall that obey him, though obedience be fometirnes interrupted, alwayes imperfed1. So will he be glorified in glorifying all them that beleeue, I fay not as Abraham onely, with a fulnefe of affurance ; but as the blinde man in the GofpeIl,obewailing and praying againfl Infidelitie and doubtings. This claufe included in the Parenthefis, hath apparently this Scope, to apply the generall forementioned, to the com- fort of thefe particulars among beleeuers : q, d.
