The Name is either derived from a Root which lignifies to defiroy, and fo is intended to convey an aweful Idea of GOD's Omnipotence ; or from a Root which implies Sufficiency or Suftentation, and then denotes, that the Lord is all-fufpicient and felf-fuffi- cient, and that, whatever Good is found among the Creatures, it is wholly derived and poured forth from Him.* Our Tranflators have uniformly rendered the Name * Some derive this Title from 7w, Uber, Mamma ; the Brea$, or Teat; which yields Nourijhment to the I1fue of Creatures.
