At all Events, he could not poflibly atone for the Failures of others, by the neceffary Difcharge ofhis own Duty ; nor applyany Part of hisown Merit to their Deficiencies. He would need every Portion and Par- ticle of his own Righteoufnefs, for his own Jufliñcation to his Mailer. He could not do more, than he was qualified to do by his Nature; and he ought to do as much. But, the Redeemerof Ifrael being JEHOVAH ; there re- fides, in his Perfon, all the Plenitude of Grace and all the Effence ofRighteoufnefs, neceffary for his People's Salvation. Thus, he is a fovereign Agent, and an infi- nite Source fvvereign to beftow, and infinite to fup- ply. He can confer Righteoufnefs on whom He plea- feth, and can extend it to as many as He pleafeth. Hence we find, in the New Teflament, that Chrift can abfolve his People from Sin, and make them Partakers of4rif Holinefs can give them every prefent Grace, and in the End eternal Glory.
