RIGHT HAND,, OF JEHOVAH. 2 7 "efèablifhed; meaning, that to him, as the Man-Mediator, all Power fhould be given both in Heaven and Earth. Priefts and Rulers received their Commiffions of fpiri- tuai and temporal Power, by the Impo(ition of Hands and, by the fame inttituted Emblem; Grace and the Ap- pointments of Grace were conferred, upon various Or- ders of Men in the Church, at all Times. It is truly furprizing, upon the Comparifon ofScrip- ture with Scripture, how much the Divinity and graci- ous Offices of the Mediator, in all the Variety of Lan - guage and Sentiment, are interwoven (as it were) into the minùteft Circumtiances, Incidents, and Declara- tions, of the Bible. They Teem (if one might ufe the Phrafe) the very Life and Soul of the Scriptures. Without this particular Tenet of Chrift's Divinity, de- livered with fo much Care and apparent Solicitude, there ièems no Coherence in the feveral Parts of the facred Volume, no Dependence to be made upon the Re- dernption it reveals, nor any Reliance upon the PromiTes it has given. A Chaös of Doctrines and Abfiirdities, as unworthy of divine Revelation as contrary to human Reafon, would arife in View; and all the Hopes, Suf- ferings and Comforts of holy Men, in all Ages, would only appear as the idle Refults of diftemperedBrains. Thanks be to GOD ; the Faith of Chrittians may fe- curely reft upon a fure Foundation. CHRIST is JEHO- VAH, who changeth not. They may call him fo, and worfhip him as fuch fince the very Angels do the fame. An hafty !Irian has confidently told us, that Chrift is not called GOD throughout the Scriptures. In thus faying, he gives the Holy Ghoft the Lye direft, and tacitly accufes all the holy Angels of Idolatry. The FATHER faith unto the Son, Thy Throne, O GOD, is for ever and ever ; and in Heaven he utters, Let ALL THE ANGELS ofGOD worfhip him.' And if the FATHER declare our Jefus to be GOD, and alto LORD ; f and if all the Angels in Heavenworfhip him as GOD ; furely Heb. i. 6, S. fi Ibid. v. i o. ejhou, LORD, in the beginning, &e. T 2 his
