I S D ® Mo THIS Word Wifdom is applied in different Senfes in the holy Scriptures, and generally means, when it refpeEts created Beings, that Intelligence and Difcernment of the Mind, by which fuch Beings diltin- guiíh Truth from Error, or adopt the Good and rejeEt the Evil before them. But it has a peculiar Applica- tion to the ever-bleffed GOD himfelf, and refers to his- infinite Comprehenfion and Knowledge. 'Tis an Attri, bute, the faint glimmering of which we can perceive in the material World, and indeed force little Traces of it within ourfelves. We ufually confider, and in Condefcenfion to our Capacities it is fo confidered in the Bible, that Wifdom is a Quality in the Molt High, by which he orders and difpofes all things. But GOD is alto to be juítly thought of as Wifdom itfelf in the AbítraEt ; for, whatever may be applied to Him as an Attribute or Perfeftion, that He is.
