Hence we may commiferate a vat Number of wife and learned People (as the World efteems them), whofe Wifdom and Learning do not deliver them from the Follies, the Snares, and the Wretchednefs, which the molt ignorant Worldling is expofed to ; but their Knowledge feems rather to fpur on their Miferies than to prevent them. Thefe at the belt, are only " igno- rant with a Grace, and Fools with Difcretion." To know Cbr/ includes all Wifdom ; becaufe Cbrift is Wifdom itfelf. " Thishaving learn'd, thou halt attain'd the Sum Of WISDOM ; hope no higher, though all the Stars Thou knew'ft by Name, and all th' ethereal Powers, All Secrets of the Deep, all Nature's Works, Or Works of GOD in Heav'n, Air, Earth, or Sea, And all the Riches of this World enjoy'dlt, And all the Rule, one Empire."
