P R L E S T. 3r1 That the Faithof GOD's Elea never leads them to Sin, nor leaves them i e Sin ; and they, who Sin, that Grace may abound, or becaufe it hath abounded, have at belt only the Faithof Devils. True Faith is a gra- cious Principle in the Soul, and induces Love, and every other Chriftian Virtue. Faith mortifies. the Fleflr with its Afec ions and I.ufts, and crucifies, overcomes and fubdues both the Love and the Force of the World. Faith is omnipotent; becaufe it is derived from, and cleaves to an omnipotent GOD. All things are peiblc, in this view, to him that believeth. The Pardon of Sim is poffible'; the Victory over Sin is pofüble; the Refig- nation of the Heart to GOD is poffible ; and the Triumph over Satan, Death and Hell, is poffible ; but only to Faith. Without Faith in the omnipotent Saviour, thefe things would be as impoffible to the Sinner, as to gather the Stars with his Hand, or to- pluck the Sun from the Sky. Faith in Cbrift is the De- jtrutlion of Sin. Where Faith is, Sin can never be de- lighted in, can never be imputed. It views Cbriji, and rejoices in. Chrif, alone ; becaufe it fees the abun- riant Fullnefsof his Merit, and upon that Fullnefs lives from day to day.Rejoice then, OBeliever, in the ali- fufficient Sacrifice of thine all-efficient Prieft. Be affur- ed, that as the Drop of Ink, which hangs on the.Point of aPen, would be loft and annihilated in the Depths of the Sea ; fo all thy Sins and Iniquities, however vile and however aggravated, when thrown intoo the unbounded Ocean of thy Redeemer's Merit, would be utterly ab- forbed and for ever difappear. Whò then jhall lay anv thing to the Charge of GOD's Eletl i It is GOD the Saviour, the all-fufficient JExovArt, that . jujlifeth. Who is he that condemneth ? It was CHRIST, the anointed Prieft, and the undefiled Lamb, that died. Say, then, and O fay it with everlafting Gratitude and Love ;; Thanks be unto Thee, O GOD, for thine infinitely preci- ous, thy glorious, thy unfpeakable Gift ! KING..
