XXXI. 1he Love of God to Men, &c. 221 the whole Nation ; that he would bepleated to turn as every onefrom the Evil of our Ways, that he may return to us, andhave mercy on us, that fo iniquity may not be our Ruin; that be may rejoyce over us todo us good, and may at laß think Thoughts of Peace towards us, Thoughts of Good and no of Evil, to give us an expelled End of our Troubles. Let us then betake our felves to the proper Work of this Day, hearty Prayers and Thanksgivings to Almighty God, for the King and .Q.yeen, and for all that are in Authority ; that as he bath been pleafed by .a wonderful Providence, zo refcue usfrom the imminent danger we were in; and from all our fears, by the happy Advancement of their Majeflies to the Throne of thefe Kingdoms ; fo be wouldof his infinitegoodnefsflill preferve and continue to us this Light of our Eyes, and Breath of our Noffrils, Princes of that great Clemency and Goodnefs, which render them the true Reprefentativesof God upon Earth, and the moll Graci- ous Governours of Men. And let us earneftly'befeech him, that he wouldconfirm and firêngthen them in all goodnefs, and make them wife as Angels of God, to difcern betwixt Good and Evil, that they may know how to go in and out before this great People ; that he wouldgive them the united afecdions of their People, and a heart toffudy and feek their good.all the days of their lives. TH E S E Wordscontain a clear and evident Demonftration of the Love of God tous ; In this was manifefled the Love of God towardsus; that is, by this it plainly appears, that God had a mighty Love for us, That he feat his only-begotten Son into the World, that we might live through him. In which we may confider this Threefold Evidence of God's Love to Mankind. I. That he lhould be pleafed to take our Cafe into Confideration, and to concern himfelf for our Happinefs. II. That he fhoulddefign fo great a Benefit to us, which is here expreft byLife ; that we might live through him.. III.
