4o The Danger of all known Sin, both from Vol . j, great Grace and Mercy in the Juftifcation and Pardon of Sinners Chrifr, which I have already (hewn to be meant by the Righteoufnefs of Gad, by comparing this with the Explication which is given of the Righteoufnefr e Cap. 3. ver. 22. of God, The other Reafonwhich he gives of the Gofpel's being thepower of God to Sal- vation, is the plain declaration of the Severity of God toward Impenitent Sin- ners, Becaufe therein alfo the wrath ofGod is revealed from Heaven, againfl all un- godlinefs and unrighteoufnefs of Men. The force of which Argument will appear, if we confider thefe following Particulars. Firfi, That the Declarations of the Gofpel in this Matter are fo plain and exprefs. Secondly, That they are very dreadful, and terrible: Thirdly, That there is no fafety or hopeof impunity for Men that go on and continue in their Sins. Fourthly, That this Argument will take hold of the moft defperate and profli- gate Sinners, and till! retain its forceupon the Minds of Men, when all other Confederations fail, and are of little or no efficacy. And, Fifthly, That no Religion in the World can urge this Argument with that force and advantage that Chriftianity does. Firfl, That the declarations of the Gofpel in this Matter, are moft plain and exprefs ; and that not only againft Sin and Wickednefs in general, but againft particular Sins and Vices ; fo that no Man that lives in any Evil and Vicious Courfe, can be ignorant of his danger. Our Lord bathtold us in general, what Mall be the Doomof the Workers of Iniquity, yea tho' they may have owned him, and made profefiìon of his Name, Mat. 7. 25. Not every one that faith un- to me, Lord, Lord, /hall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he that Both the will of my Father which is in Heaven. Many will fay unto rue in that day, Lord, Lord, &c. thenwill Iprofefr unto them, I never knewyou, depart from me ye that work Iniquity, Matth. x3. 49, 50. So (hall it be at the end ofthe World, the Angelsfhall come forth and fever the Wickedfrom among the Jufe, and(hallcafe them into the fur- nace offire, there(hall be wailing, and gnaflüng of teeth, Matth. 25. 46. The WickedPallgo away into everlafiing Punifhment, but the Righteous into Life Eter- nal, John 5. 28, 29. The hour k coming, in which all that are in the graves (hall hear his voice, and (hall comeforth; they that have done good, unto the Refurredion of Life, and they that have done evil unto the Refurreclion of Damnation, Rom. 2. 6. St. Paul tells us that there is a Day of wrath, and of the Revelation of the Righ- teous judgment of God, who will render to every Man according to his deeds; to them who obey not the truth, but obey unrighteoufnefs, indignation and wrath, tribu- lation and anguifh upon every foul of Man that doth evil, 2 Thef. t. 7, 8, 9. That the Lord più,. (hall be revealed fromHeaven, with his mighty Angels in flaming fire, takingvengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the Gofpel of our Lord fefits Chrifi ; mho (hall be punifht with everlafiingdefirudion from the prefence of the Lord, and from the glory of his Power. Nothing can be more plain and ex- prefs than thefe general declarations of the wrath of God againft Sinners ; that that there is a Day of Judgment appointed, and a Judge conftituted to take cog- nifance of the Actions of Men, topats a fevere Sentence, and to infliét a terri- ble Punifhment upon the workers of Iniquity. More particularly our Lord and his Apoftles have denounced the wrath of God again(! particular Sins and Vices. In feveral places of the New gTeftament, there are Catalogues given of particular Sins, the practice whereof will certainly Phut Men out of the Kingdom of Heaven, and expofe them to the wrath and vengeance of God, t Cor. 6. 9, to. Knowye not that the Unrighteous ?hall not in- herit the Kingdom of God ? Be not deceived, neither Fornicators, nor Idolaters, nor Adulterers, nor EJminate, nor Abufers of themfelves with Mankind, nor Thieves, nor Covetous, nor Drunkards, nor Revilers; nor Extortioners, fhall inherit the Kingdomof God. So likewife, Gal. 5. 19, 20, 21. The works of the flfh are manifefi, which are theft, Adultery, Fornication, Witchcraft, Hatred, Variance, E- mulations, Wrath, Strife, Seditious, Herefies, Envying:, Mien hers, Drunkennefs, Revelling:,
