Serm. CXLII. o} our Saviour's Afccnlion. 277 the Lord Nits Chrifi ; who (hall change our vile Body, that it may be fafhioned like un- to his glorious Body, according to theWor{¿ing ofthat mighty Power, whereby he is able to fubdue all Things to himfelf. To conclude: Let us heartily. thank God for the whole Difpenfation ofour. Salvation, by the Incarnation and Dottrine, by the holy Life and meritorious Death of our bleffedSaviour, and bythat Demonftrationof God's m: hty Powerand Goodnefs, which hewrought inChrifi, when he raildhim from theDead, andfit him at his own Right Hand inHeavenly Places, farabove all Principalities, andPowers, andMight, and Dominion, and every Name that is named, not only in this World, but alfa in that which is to come; having put all Things under his Feet, andgiven him to be, the Head over allThines to the Church, which is his Body. TheConfderation whereof is (as you have heard) a mighty Confolatioh tons under all the Troubles and Dangers to which the Church of Chrift is expofed in this World. He who hath all Power committed to him by God, and is made Head over all Things for the Benefit and Advantage of the Church, wemaybe fure will have a particular Care of it, and tender it as his own Body : And as he isable, he is ready upon all Occalons to prote& and defend hisown Religion, and the true Profeffors of it, againft all the Fury and Malice of Men andDevils, fo that the Gates of Hell, the ftrongeft Combinations and deepest Confpiracies of all the Powers of Darknefs, (hall not finallyprevail againfl it. Here is the Foundationof ourHopes and Confidence, that our Redeemer is ftrong, and that Godbath given him a Kingdom andPower, that is Paramount and Superiour to all earthly Kingdoms and Powers and tho' they fhould confpire together, and be of one Mind, unite all their Force, and give their Power and Strengthunto the Beall, to mare War with the Lamb and his Company, that is, the true ChurCh and faithful Servants ofChrift; yet the Lamb (ball overcome them, becaufe he is Lord ofLords, and King of Kings. And let us likewife biers God for the wonderful Reftoration of his Majefty to the Government of there Kingdoms, who under Chrift is the great Defender of our Faith and Religion ; and let us pay that Dutyand Obedience, which becomes us, to a Princewhom Godhad fo miraculoufly preferved and reftored ; andpour out our molt fervent Prayers to God, that he would long preferve him, and pro- te& his Perron from all Dangers, Who is the great Security of out Religion, and , roaih'd the Life of all our Hopes, and as truly as any Prince ever was toanyPeople, the the cáira Light of our Eyes, and the Breath of our Nofirils;. and that God would makeyo"ofth, him wife as an Angel of God, togo in and out before this great People; and grant to T ñg" him, and all the People of this Land, to knot» in this our Day the Things that be- Chádeslt. long to our Peace, before they be hid fromour Eyes.
