He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, -and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." 43. Q. How could Christ obtain pardon and life for us byhis doing or suffering? A Our sins had deserved death, but Christ was the Son of God, and per- fectly righteous, and God appointed him to suffer death to take away our sins, and to bring -us into his favour. " Rom. vi. 23. The wages of sin is death. 1 Pet. iii. 18, Christ bath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, to bring us to God. 2 Cor. v. 21. God raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right-hand in heavenly places." 45. Q What is Christ nowdoing in heaven? A. A. I must repent of my sins, and confess thembefore God, and ask pardon for them; I most have faith in Christ as my Saviour, and obey him as my Lord and Ruler. "Acts viii 22. Pleb. v.9. He became the Author of eter- nal salvation to all that obey him," 47. Q. What is it to repent of sin ? A. To repent of my sins is to be sorry at my heart that 'I have offended God, to hateevery thing that displeases him, and to take heed that I offend him no more. " Ps. xxxviii. 18. I will be sorry for my sin. 2 Cor. vii. 10. Godly sor- row worketh repentance. Ps. cxix. I04. I bate every false way. Job xxxi,. 32. If I have done iniquity, 1 will do no more." 48. Q. What is it to have faith in Christ as your Saviour ? A. To have faith in Christ as my Saviour is, to believe that Christ is the Sa- viour of sinners, and to give myself up to him and to trust in him that he may save -me in his own way.- " Acts viii. 37. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, i Tim. i. 15.. with 2 Tim. i. 12. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation,-Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners.
