The Mountain offat things,difcovered. {hall have the Vail rent from the top to thebottom : the Cover- ing that is the Covering of the Vaileofall Nations, that is more or leffe upon every man ; But it is He onely in Thorn mans glorious Temple is deftroyed, and all of mans building laid flat, and not a(tone left upon a 'tone, that is not thrown down. That we may come and make force ufe of all we have laid, and apply it to our felves : This difcovers, that all things that Chrift will make nfe of in his Church, mutt be materials of his own, from him- felf,of his own providing;what ever it be that man provides, that men hew out by their own wifdom,or power, and frame never fuch curious Images, they arc all abominable, all 'mull bedeftroy'd, broke topieces, blown away , made nothing All fat things areonly to be had in this mountain ; There is no deftroying the Vail of the Covering of all Nations , no bringing man to fee his own mifery, his own hell, his own darknefi'e, but here ; no filming man the excellency of the riches and glory of Chrift, but here ; no true feaft, but here ; all other feafts are but death and poyfon : what ever feaft man provides, or feeds or feafts himfelf withal,or takes con- tent in, he feeds himfelfwith lies,he is but as an hungry man fill, that dreams be eates, and when he awakes be is empty but this Feaft of fat things, and Wine on the lees, andfat things full of marrow, and wine on the lees well refined,is only prepared and given unto us by jefus Chrift ; Man naturally feeds upon nothing but tin and mitery, and hell and damnation and thefe are fweet tohim: why ? becaufe there is a vail upon them , theCovering of all Nations; force things, more or leffe excellent, forme goodnefíe, fouie righteoufned,fome holincffe,fomc duties,fome reformation, force forms,fome fhadows ; and Thefe are theCovering, by reafon of which he neither fees nor tafis death , nor hell, nor deftruEiion. In Chrift there is alllife, all refs, all peace, all difcovery of ,good things; but if man remain in himfelf, and dwel in his ourn mountain, there is all darlne ffe, and all deformity, nothing but death, trouble, bryars, thorns ; but it never appears fo, till the vail be taken away ; till then ,. man is never ftript of hint- Mat,24.2. 2if e Efay 29. 8
