T i M. What is the film and Jubilance of this Text ? S I t. It fers forth the do &vine of fan&ification,by comparing Chrill and his members together in thefe foute things, wherein they are like the other. Firíl,as Chrift dyed once for fin,fo al his members are once to dye to fin. Second - ly,asChrifi being dead did live againe, fo all his members are gnickned by ,him to live a new life. The firlt degree is the life of grace in this world, whereby beleevers are enabled to thinke and doe in Tome meafure pleating unto God. The fecond degree is the life of glory, which they (hall have and live in heaven in all perleai on,loving God, his Angels, and Saints, with all their heart, f ul,and ftrength. T I Id. Two things : Finii, an in- ftruEiion, that dying to finne, and new - neffe oflife are infeparable. For he that bath the firft, cannot but have the latter. Secondly,a confolation; that the life of Chrilt is annexed to his death: for they are litre to have part with hint in his life, both of grace and glory , that have part with him in his death. So the Apo. plc faith, lave beleeve it; that is,we are cer- tainly perfwaded of it, that the life of Chrill belongs to us, if wee be dead to fin ; it is no matter of opinion or con - jeaure, but of faith. TIM. What things learn we out of the ninth verfe? S i L. Fiat, that Chrift was dead to take away finne, touching gtilt, and dominion. Secondly, that he was railed from death to life again. Thirdly, that his life is no more fubje& to death, for it cannot againe bee quenched with finne and death ; whereupon doth follow thefe two molt comfortable things.
