Minifters

fhould hold

forth

drsties

and

ordinances publickly.

we

are awakened in our tufts; all

the

Iviinifters

of

God

and

Cha-itt

;

God

bath

put

them

in

a

place of eminency,

therefore

it

iIaould

be

their

care to

walke inoffenfive, becaufe

the

eyes

of

traen

are

upon

them,

Our

Saviour

Chrift

makes this

an

Ar-

gument

that they fl,ould

walke exaétly in

their

wayes,

and

let

their

wayes

thine

before

men,

becaufe the

eyes of

men are

upon

them,

it

concernes

all

Mini-tiers and

Chriftians

to

walk

inoffenfve,

becauîe

the

eyes

of men

are upon

them, and,

therefore

walke

inoffenlive,

take

heed

when they looke

upon

you,

that they doe not

fpie

out fome bale and evil! way,

that

they

doe not

fpie force

tlthinefs

and

impuritie

in you

con

-

verfations, this

will

be

to.

the dilhonour

of Chrift,

and

to your

ewne

dithonour.

And.further, that Chrift faith, that

.Ivtinifters

and

Chriflìans

,

are

in

the view

of

all

others

,

it

fhould

teach rhofe

that

are

godly to maintaine

the

honour of the

Ivlinitters

of

the Gofpe!.

But further,

this

is

the

maine

thing that

our

Saviour

ames

at,

.

a-Citie

on

a

hill

;

I

fend

you

to

preach, doe not

you

regard

your owne cafe,

but

doe

you

hold forth

my

truths,

and mine'

ordinances publickly.

Note.

It

the

duty of

-all

)k/inif

ors

and

-

C'hriftfans,

to

hold

forth

all

duties,

all

ordinances

to

the

utternsofl they

are

-abl'y

to

the

vitro

of

all

the

world.-

Therefore whofoever

(halt in

any

private

way,

exercife

any

ordinance,

as

the

preaching of the

Word, if

they might doe

itl.ublickly, there

is

no

man

that

is

faithful!,

that

lovs

Jefus

Chrifl,

hut he would

rather

doe

it

in

a

publick

way

a

great

deale. But if

-any

dothit

in

a

private

way, and

might doe

it

publickly,

certainly he

loth

o:`fend

againft

this

Scripture;

yet

I

would notlhave you

to

be

hinderers of

men

in ptiblick!

and

afterward

to

cry

out of them

in

private.

The

Apofiles

they

preached publickly, they

carne

and preached

in

the

ample,..

but

they.could not break breäd

,there',

they could

not,
