the Cloudis takenoftheTabernacle. wicked men inSodome , (when the Angel was fent to bring ot1t Lot) being ftricken blind, they labóured to finde thedore, but could not : fo he that is in thedark knows not whither he goes : fo this is cleareand true to this very day, . that the true Tabernacle of the Lord is Rill covered with a cloud, no mancan fee it till God difcover it tohim. Now , notwithftanding this being fo s yet what are the wales of men ? what doe they undertake to doe.? Doe not all men that come out under the name of being the Mini- fiersofChrìfl,undertake the opening, and revealing the Taber- nacle of Gcd ? yes; but what is the light by which they can thew it unto us? Is it any other but what man hath within himfelfe, and what he hath attainedby his wits and induiry, by the Vniverfty, and fearching feverall Authors ? Yet not- withftanding theywill difcover this Tabernacle, and un- dertake to take offthecloud that covers it , and they will thew how the pattern leads to it ; and yet if they be put to it , they themfelves mutt deny they ever taw it truly and really what it was or is, but theywill be guciling and ima- gining the way that leads to it. Now for a man to dire} another the way that never underftood that way, may very eafily make good what Chrift faith , If the blind lead the blind,both fall into the ditch. And there beother men that are fo grofly ignorant, as to tell us, That if they goe but to an Academy a few yeeres and gather a little Philo- foP hY , and although it be that of the worn fort, re- lithing of thofe that hold the immortality of the World arid mortalityof the Soule, now even thefe they come out as they think furmfhed, and by this they will undertake to difcover to us the heavenly Canaan andTabernacle of God. Generally molt men what ever they be , though they differ in judgement, yet fay , they are either Papifts or So- cinians, &c. And they have the boldnefíe to hold forth thefe things, though theybe never fo blind and dark in the things of God. And I finde very few,but generally all take up this for truth;that.
