Thirdly,we feehere that GodBoth not choofe becaefe offaith and holineffe, and perfeverance, fore-feen ; feting he choofeth us to thefe things,thefe things followbyforceofhiseleâion,and therefore cannot be the caufe ofthatwhichis before them : for everycaufe muff needsbe before that it caufeth. Now here is fit place to confider ofthat quellion ; Whether God in firelight ofbeleeli andpertverance in faith andholine f f'e,doe choofe err tofal- vatlon ? I will difcuffe the queftionafter the formermanner, in which I will propofe divers Articles.. Fiat, then the Arguments affirming, which I have obferved are thefe. r Theywho arechofen in Chrift, are chofen on Faith fore-feen: But all the. Eleâare chofen in Chrift, Ergo. a Suchwhom God doth adopt and fave, fuch he decreed to adopt and fave : He adopteth and favethbeleevers,&c. 3 On what condition God offerethlife, upon that condition fore-. feen, he choofeth to life. Butheoffcreth lifeupon beleeving. 4 If God choofenot all, on condition they will beleeve ; then fome arebound tobeleevea lie ; for theyare bound tobeleeve that God will fave them : But we are notbound to beleevea lie,&c.
