if

we will

that

we

let

us

that

we are new creatures, that

In

a

a

part

of

the

may be

wanting, but

no fuch defeét

in

the

In this

new creation, the perfon

begotten refembles him that

begets, in

his

will,

affe¿ìions, and

inclinations, holds

a

futable correfpondencie

ìo

him.

Let

men

try themfelves by this; fo long

as

men are

fo unlike to

Chrift,

and fo

contrary unto him,

and are

rather

to

Satan

There

are degrees

of

new creatures,

or

kindes:

Babes

in

Chrift, yong

ones

:

Old

men,

the

perfe¿tion

of

flature.

We

have

not

all

a

meafure

of

grace: but God

giveth

men gra-

ces

anfwerable

to

their callings,

affliCions,

and croffes: God

fits

his

graces

according to the exigent

of

the

perfon.

Again, God giveth graces and

ftrength according

to

the

means

of

growth

in

proportion. A

man living

long

under means,yet a Novice;

a

babe

,

in

refpe¿t

of

the proportion

of

the time

he

hash been

a new

creature, may be ftronger then he

:

as

the poor woman that

caft

her

mire

into the treafury, gave more then

the

ref},

not

in

quantity,

but

in

proportion. Thus

with

the

Hebrews,

The

of

this new creation

are;

Change;

as in

every generation

there

is a

great change,

as in

creation

of

the

world,

when

out

of

the

confufed

Chaos

was

drawn

this

beautifull frame

of

the world

:

Such

is

the change

in

forming

of

the

new creature in

Chrift,

of

a finfull,

ignorant,

and wicked

man,

he is

made

holy,

glorious, righteous, light

in

the

Lord.
