It

We

have
gone before many
of
us
in
their
affeótions
toward
the
Gofpell
,
the
hearts
of
men
being altogether clfewherebeftowed.
Hereby learne
to
judge aright
whether
we have grace
or
no
:
Remember,the heart

if
Chrift
dwell
in
you,
he will enliven
you're.
every
duty:
If
youwould be full
of
the
life
of
grace,
if
you would have
it
flowing more abundantly,
then
fatten your eyes upon
Chrift
the
fountains
But
it
is
your fault,
yes delire graces, remiffion
of
finnes and
the parts
of
fandtification
abftraéfly from
Chrift,
we goe
to God andthink not
of
Chrift
:
But
get Chrift
into
yourhearts,get
him
knit
to you,
and
then
you (hall re-
ceive
grace from him. And
as
you
are
neerer
in
unison
with him,
fo
he
dwels
more
in
your
hearts: As there
are degrees
of
light from
the
funne,
as
it is
higherand
lower; So there
are
degrees
of
'Chrifts union
and habitation, and
of
all
the
effects
of
his Cohabitation.
Laftly
it

What
it

dwellingofoneinthe other:
For though
Chrift
in
regard
of
his
humane nature
is
in
heaven and wee on
earth, yet
neithertime nor
place,
nor
the abfence
of
being
in
the
nature
ofrhings,
doth
hinder
the work
of
faith;
as
víbraham
by

in
the
word

and rejoyced
,
when thoufands
of
years after
Chrift
were
not
in
the
nature
of
things
, in
regard
of
his
kilt
:
And
fo for
place,
it
hindereth not
the
pretence
of
faith,
though

as
the
foule,
by vertue
of
fight enlightned with the beams
of
the
funne,
doth
joyne
it felfe
with the
body
of
the twine,
and
touch
it
in
a manner
,
though
it
be
in
heaven and wee
here:
So
the
eye -of faith inlightned
with
the beames
of
the Spirit,which come from
the Sunne
of
righteoufnes
in
the word
and
facraments,
doth
touch
and
joyne
it felfe
in a
fpirituall
manner

his
body
and
blood,though
his
body be
in
the hea-
vens
and wee on
earth.
Which
first
ferveth to
Phew
what kind
of
pretence we have,
even
that which
our beliefe touching
Chrift
in
the heavens,bringeth
about;
there
is no
other
true prefence
of
his
body on earth,
but
this which
is
fpirituall,
no
taking his very
body
in
at
the mouth,f
or he
is
not
meat
for
the ftomach, but for the heart.
2.
Whatfoever
pretence
we have
of
Chrift
in
the facrament, it
is ei-
ther that
of
faith, or mutt
ferve
to
confirme that
of
faith, but
to
have
his
body
prefent bodily,would
not
confirme faith, nay it hinde-
reth beleefe,as our Saviour
teftifieth, It
is
better
for
them
he
'bold
gee
from them: And
it
is
contrary
if
by
fight,nttby
beliefe.
Again,
fuch as
the
giving
is
and receiving, fuch
muff
be our
union,
which
followeth upon
the
giving andtaking
:
but there
is
no bodily
conjunction
and
union.
