Farther differences in the conditions bathe Covenant of Works, and the conditions in the Covenant of Grace. 2,1Y.-` He conditions , on mans part in the Covenant of Works kept man within himfelf for righteoufneffe. That righ- teoufheffe in which he was to {land in Gods fight was inhe- rent wrought by hirhfelf ; connatural! to him, flowing from the principles of his creation, in conformity to God. And therefore properly his own ; as now a mans reafon will and affetcions are properly his, he needed no other nor no more righteoufneffe then that in which he Rood. Though he had that faith which now ferves to juflifie ; yet it needed not , nor could be improved to take in any other righteoufneffe without himfelf for juftification. Man flood then on' his own bottome. His dependance was on God for being but that being which God pleafed to communicate, was in that integrity and purity, that he needed not any far- ther: But the conditions of the Covenant of Grace, carry man out of himfelf, he muftbe righteous with a righteoufnefs extrinfecal, or elle he will never be able to fland in judgement.
