8 Box of precious Ointment Or, the holy fpirit INTOn't condemn fuch a perfon, nor the word of (=race won't condemn fuch a perfon, nor no commandment or threatnings will condemn fad] a perfon , no nor filch a mans own heart nor confcience (if it be rightly informed) won't condemn him ;,and therefore well may the holy Gholt fay to fuch a one, there is no condemnation to Inch a one, there is not one condemnation, & c. Now, thus you fee, by comparing fpiritual things with fpiritual things, and by a rational arguing from Scripture, a man may attain unto a comfortable certainty of his graci- ous flate, and fafely and grOundedly conclude his intereft in Chrift. Now this affurance of Gods favour, by the witnef- ling of our own fpirits, which rffurance is deduced by way of argument fyllogiflically, is more eafily attained than many (may I not fay, than moft) Chriftians imagine ; for let a gracious man but clear himfelf of hart-condemning fins and rationally argue as before has been hinted, and he will fpeedily reach to fome comfortable fupporting, foul-fatisfy- ing, and foul-quieting affurance, there being an infallible connexion between the forernentioned graces, and future glory. Thefe fifteen arguments may well be looks upon as fifteen flare and infallible evidences of the goodnefs and hap- pinefs of a Chriftians elate. 0 that you would often, every day think on this, viz,. That the undoubted verity of Gods promifes, proveth an infeparable connexion between true faith and eternal glory, Pm 3. 14,15,16.
