the

morehis.heart is

wrought upon by

the

Scripture, and

daim

`íy

grows

to

bee liker and

liker

to

the

Scripture

,

to

come nearer

and nearer

to

what

is

required in

the

Scripture;

but

now

when a gracious

heart

doth

refit

upon

Scripture

,

it

findes

that daily

it

-doth

grow

nearer and nearer

to

the

Scriptures

and that

works

daily

more

and

more upon

it; and

indeed

this is

the

way

to

grow

in

fanftification,

and

to

Make

our hearts like

to

the

Scriptures.

Fall

upon feveral

places, and

let

your fouls

ref}

upon

than

for eternity,

and

fo

you

will finde

your

hearts

to

grow

more and more

like

to

thofe Scriptures, and

the

power

of

thofe

Scriptures

will

appear

more and

more

in

your hearts and

converfations.

This

is

the

way

of

the

Saints

that have

hopes

to

bee

`raved.

Secondly,Again,thofe hopes

that

are

to

be

rafed,are

hopes

that are not

wrought

in

the foul

by

the

power

of

the Holy

Ghoft

;

in the forenamed

Chapter,

The

God

of

hope

fill

you

ivith

all

.ioy

and

peace in 'lreleeving,

that

you

may

abound

in

hope

through

the

paver

of

the Holy Ghof

.

That

hope

that

is

right

for falvation,

is

fuch

a

hope as

is

wrought through the power

of

the

Holy

Ghófl

i

Now then,

that

hope

that

is

in

men and

Women, which

is

born

with them and hath

lived

with

'them

all their

dales,

that

fprings from

the

root of

nature,

for fo

that

that

is

born with

us,

and

grows

up

with us

all

the

daies

of our

lives,

I

fay,

it

fprings from a

root

of

na-

ture,

and

fo

the

hopes

of

people ,

they

are

no

other

but

fuch

as

fprings from

a

root of

nature;

come

from one

to

another,

and

ask

them, do

you

think

to

bee

faved

?

I.,

I

hope fo;

how

long have

you

hoped

fo

?

ever

fince

I

can

remember, I

thank God;

I,

I

thought

fo;

it

is

a

hope

that

fprings

oat ofthe

root

of

nature,

and

therefore you have

hid

it

alwaies, whereas

the

true

hope

'of

the

for

And

I

appeal

to

you

nrxv,

what Almighty power

of

the

Holy Ghoft have you

felt

in

your hearts

to

thofe

that
