Walk

God
in
abetter
and more gracious manner then
formerly it bath
done,

more
and
more, the
defires are
Rill
inlarged,
whereas
an
hypocrite
may
delire to
overcome
corruption
and
to perform
sortie
duty, but he defires
only fo much
as
he thinks may ferve his
turne to keep him from
dangers
that he doth apprehend,
and
that's
an
evident argu-
ment
that he defires
it
not for
it fell
:
As
thus,
there
be two
men that would
have
learning,
there's
one man
that
is fent
to
the
Univerfity, but
it
is
only
to
give his .father
content,
and
therefore
he would faine.have
learning,
or
thus,
he would
Paine
have
learning that
-he
might
get
form;
preferment,
that's
};i
end,
and
if
he can
but get
fo
much
as
he
may
attaine
his
end,
then
he
loyters after that.: But
there
is
another that defires
learning
for
it fell,
he fees
an
excellency that
there
is in
learn-
ing, he fees that
it
doth
raife
a
rationall
creature,and
upon
that
he
is
never fatisfied but hewould
have
more
and
more,
and
fo
Rudies
to
his
dying day
;
whether
he bath
preferment or
no,
whether
he
bath imployment
or
no, yet
Hill
he will
he fiudi-
ous
;
Whereas
many
wonder
why fuch
a
man
fhould
be
fo
Ru-
dious,
he
hash
not
fo
much
imployment
as 'another
hat],
but
the
very
love he bath
to
it
makes
him do fo,
becaufe
he loves
learning for
it fell
:
So
one
that doth delire grace
to
fome
in-
feriour end,
if
he may have
but
fo
much
as
may ferve
the turne
for
his
end,
that quiets
him, but whofoever delires righreouf-
na
fefor it fell,
he
is
never
quieted, but
yet would
have
more
and
more
grace, even
as
long
as
it
lives.
That's
the
third
thing
in this delire.
Fourthly,
It
is
a
ruling
defire, that
is,
all
delires
are
ordered
by
the
defire after
this righteoufieffe;
whatfoever delires
there
are
in
the
foul, faith
the
foul,
well, but
let
my
delire after the
furtherance of grace
and
tighteou neffe,
let
that delire rule and
order
thefe delires
:
fo
farte therefore
as
my
other
.delires,
(hall further this my delire unto this
righteoufrefle,
fo
far.I'le
nourifh
them, fofarre
Ile
follow
after them
;
But
now
if
any
delire that
I.
have in my
foul
to
any
thing elfe, if
I
find
that:it
is
rather
a
hindrance
to
meiii
this my
great
ire of
righteouf-
neffe,
then
a
furtherancej
I
will
abandon,
