Many of the precious Saints in Scripture doubted of their Interea in God, and many frill doubt, and are in continual Fears that they go not to Heaven. Many who fear the Lord, walk in Darknefi, andhave no Light, Ifai, 5o. to. who adhere to Chria, call themfelves upon him,'and yet cannot fay, that Chrift is theirs, I anfwer, By díftinguifhing the Con- fequent, therefore it follows indeed, That Faith does not confia in fuch a Degree of Aflùrance that exclud °s all doubting ; for no Grace, whilf} we are here, is perfe& ; but it loth not follow, that there is no Af furance of Faith at all: If the Affurance be in remifs Degrees, tho', in its Tendency, it afpires to Perfe&ion. Heat and Cold, tho' contrary Qualities, may yet exifi in one Sub- je&, if in remifs Degrees : So in the fame Air there is Light and Darknefs So may there be Alfurance where doubting is, tho' there- fore there may be doubtingand unbelief with Faith in the fame Subje&, and in thePerlon which believes yet is there no doubting in ..
