Script. part r. col. 858. pROMISE is put for Faith, which embraces or roceives the gracious Promife of God, Rom. ix. 8. Children of the Promife, that is, of Faith, which receives the gracious and free Promife of Chri!t. They are called Sons by a Metaphor, with refpect to ;/lbraham who is by the Holy Spirit called the Father of Believers, Rom. iv. 16.
