It isnaturally active for its ownprefervation and increase ; as new bornChil- dren, have a natural inclination to the food that will keep them alive, and caufe them to grow, i Fe:. 2. 2. The foul then cannot fall into thefe entangling fins, but it mutt be with as high neglee , of that very Principle, which is beflowed up- on it, for quite contrary ends and pftrpofes. The labourings, luflings, defires, crying of it, are neglected. Now it is from God, and ofGod, and is the Renovation of' his I;n rge in us ; that which God owneth and careth for ; thewounding of its vi- tals, the tlifling its operations, theneglea of its endeavours for the fouls prefervation, do alwayes attend fins of the importance fpokenunto. Sin is my Ene- my no lets than thine; it feeketh the life of thy foul, and it feeketh my life ; abide with me, for with me thou (halt be in fafety. This the Apoflle exhorts us unto, Heb. 4.16. Let us come boldly to the Throne of Grace, that we may obtain mercy, and findgrace to help in time of need. Ifever it be a time of need with a foul, it is fo when it is under the aSaults of provoking fins. At fuch a time there is fuitable and feafonable help in Chrifl for fuccour and relief. The new Creature beggs with fighs and groans, that the foul would apply it felf unto him. To neglect himwith all his ProvifionofGrace, whilfl he 1lands calling unto us,open unto me,for my head is filledwith dew, andmy locks with the dropsof thenight, todefpife the fighing of the poor Prifoner, the newCreature, by fin appointed to dye, cannot but be an high provocation.
