12 vi Premonition. Chrift's own Covenant Condition was more than one aft : And the Conditionofour Glory is overcoming, and beingfaithful to the death, and continuing in ChrJt. And I will not add to the Covenant of God, ¢. 25. M. S. Arg. 4. From thenature of an obediental ail: which in- eludeth the approving of the whole Law. An. I. Approving the things thatare excellent, is made confiftent with wickednefs, Rom. 2. But I will fuppofe you tomean a full confent to the Covenant of Innocency. But 2. How prove you that fuch confent wasthe whole condition of life, and that it might not be fallen from ? and that Adam never did confent before his Fall ? and yet not fin. 3. All the godly approveof Gods Law, and confent to ir, and love it, and yet merit not as keepers of it ; for they breakit, Rom. 7. 4. Yea Covenant- keepingto the laß, as well as Covenant-confent thefrft moment, is nowtous the conditionof immutable Glory. 4.26. M. S. Adam would not obeyat firfi, but fufpend while he looked about the World, to fee if there were anygoodfufficient for himbelow Gode Thereforehefinnednot then. An. This is before confuted : He could not in that Integrity, and after Inch divineRevelation,' be unrefolved one hour whether he mutt firft loveand obey his Maker, without fin. 4. 27. God cannot freely give eternal life to a Creature without Reward for doing, becaufe the reafonable Creature was madefor the Glory of 1nitice. An. T. You may fay, that Godwill not to man, but not that hecannot, nor that he Bothnot to any Angel. For man was not made only for the Gloryof 7uftice, but ofPower, andLove, or Goodnefs alto. 2. It's cer- tain, that God as afreeBenefactor giveth many good things freely, and not asa Rewardfordoing : As t. He fo freely made all things good in the Creation, and gave man all his antecedent good: He fo gave Adam his primitive Holinefs, and Helps, and Paradife, and all the Creatures. 2. He fogave Chriftto the World, without defert : and fo far pardon- ed the firft fin, as that cometh to. 3. He fo far gave man theCove- nant ofGrace. 4. He fo gave all Chrift's Miracles, Refurreltion, Dolkrine, the Scripture, &c. 5. He fo gave Apottles and Minifiry to theWorld. 6. He fo fendeth the Gofpel to fome Nations and Perlons above others. 7. He fo giveth to many the first fpecial Grace, as he did to Paul. 8. He fo giveth tomany Kingdoms and Perlons Wealth, and Health, andStrength, and fuch othermercies above others. 9. He fogiveth greater meafures ofGrace to fome than to others. ro. And it feemeth that he fo (in part) giveth the fame Glory to force that came in but at the laft hour of theday. It is certain, that all in quantum tale, is from God only as a free Benefactor, or as the Amor primas: And the order of diftributing it is two-fold : Some antecedent -to mans merit or ads, and independent on it : And this is no Reward, ( though fometinte it is an antecedent aer of Juftice, fuch as is the making of a good Lawor Promife.) And Come confequent juxtamarman legis ; And thefe are Rewards: And though God bath affured us now, that no man (ball have Heaven but by rewarding Juftice, yet that maybe, be- caufehe thought meet to place man firft on Earth ina life of trial, and undetermined Liberty : But that hehath noAngel that was made Immu- table, or that Chrift was not made immutablyholy, let them fay that canprove it, for I cannot. §. 28. M. S. it's like the the Angels thatflood and they thatfellhad un- equal help : for unequalEifls are of an unequal Caufe. But Adamand the Devils
