For thrifts fcrifice layes the general Ground- work of all the following benefits, both juftihcarion, Adoption, Sanctification, Glorification but it doth immediate- ly effect or confer none of them all ; but there are appointed wayes for the collation of each one of them after the Purchafe or Ranfom. 'o that if the apprehending of the Ranfomwhich is the general Ground.doonly juft+fie; then the apprehendingof the fame Ranfom as meriting fanctification,fhould only fanc`tify. And neither the ¡unifying nor fanctifying acts of faith Mould refpect either Chrifts following acts of his Priefthood, (Inter cefiìon ) nor yet his Kingly or Prophetical office at all. And therefore as the fanctifying act must refpect Chrifts following applicatory acts, and not the purchafe of fanctificationonly ; fo the ¡unifying act ( to fpeak as they ).mutt refpect Chrift, fol- lowing Collation or application, and not only his Purchafe of Juftification. And then I have that I plead for : becaufe Chrift effectively juftifies as King. Argument 8. It is the fame faith in Habit and A& by which we are Juftified, and by which we have right to the fpi- rit Offanáification ( for further degrees) and Adoption, Glo- rification, &c. But it is believing in Chrift as Prophet, Prieft and King,by which we have Right to the fpirit of fanciification, to Adoption and Glorification : Therefore it is the believing in Chrift as Prophet, Prieft and King, by which we. are ¡unifi- ed.
