for

though

we fee

the

grace

of

God,

and

the

effects

prepared by

it

et

we

fee

them

in

heart,

no ear

but

in

times

to come

this

(hall

be perfeétly

revealed.

We

have

yet but the

firft

lineaments

of

mercie

drawn

forth, but then

we (hall

fee

the

fame

perfcéted ; God

(hall be

mar

vellous

in his

Saints,

his

glorious

mercie fhining fo

brightly

in

their

glorious falvation. Even

as

the Juftice

of God

,

it is

not yet

fo re-

vealed

as it

(hall be

in

times

to come,

when juflice

/hall return

to

judge-

ment

;

when

Gods

juftice, which now

delayeth,

(hall

thew

it felf

in

judgement, both

of

full

deliverance

to

his, and

of

full vengeance

against

the

wicked

:

So we

fee

then our happineffc,

to whom

thefe

things

are

revealed

in

the

Word.

We

fee

again,

that

there

is a

fur-

ther

manifeftation

of

mercie to be madewhen

the Lords

feafon (hall

come,

in

the

times

that

are infuing.

So

that

we muff be thankfuil

for that

we have and

fee,

and mull

when we cannot

finde

fuch grace and mercie compa(fe

us as

we

de-

fire,

know

that there

are

times to come, for which the

full manifefta-

tion

of

Gods

mercie

is

referved, lude

21.

I

have

told

you

what the quantity

and

quality

of

this grace fhould

teach

us ;

onely

one

thing

mark,

what

leadeth

us

to

fee

the

riches

of

Gods

grace,

even

to confider the height

of

happinelfe

to which

we

are lifted

up in

Chriff

:

God

hath let

us

already

in

heavenly places,

that

he may in time

to come

(hew

how

rich

his

mercie

is

ro us,

when

he

fhall

apply this to

us

in

order.

The

glorious condition

to which

we are

raifed,doth extoll the

greatneffc

of

Gods

mercies.

And we mull

help our

felves

this way

to

raife up

our hearts

to

fome good

(train

of

confideration

;

for when the high God doth

call

it

glorious

grace, rich

grace,

rich mercie,

his

kindneffe towards

us

in

Chriff, refting

on

Chrift,

and

us

in.Chrift, he would

have

us

thorowly

to conceive

of

it,and be

taken

up in

aftoni(hment and admiration here

-

of,to

know

the

length,the breadth,height

mad

depth

ofthù

love

and

mercie

of

god

which paffetb

knowledge.

Here

now observe,

what

is

the

end

of

all

Gods

grace and mercie

towards

Beleevers

in

Chriji

:

wherefore

loth

God

bellow

this rich

grace

upon his

Elea!? It

is

onely

for the manifeflation

of

his

glory,

and the

praif

of

his

Name

;

that the glory

of

his

faving

attributes might be

made

manifeft.

Wherefore do

men build great

and magnificent

houles

,

but for

advancement

of

their honour

, and

to

make their

names great when they

are

gone

a

So wherefore doth

God

raife up

poor miferable linnets under the power of the devil, out of

the

dun-

geon

of

darknelfe ;

but that he might

that

we

fhould

the

praifi of

theglory of

his

grace?

God

is

more glorified

in

the redemption

of

his

people, then

in

crea-

ting

thewhole world.

This mull teach

us

,

whatfoever good things God

hath beftowed

upon

us, that

we make

God

known by

it

;

we muff
