fuch confirmed eftates,

may give over trading, and
live
commodioufly on things already gotten

but it

not thus
with
the
foul,
which, where
it ceafeth

profit,
waxeth worfe.

new creature

it
by this: how thou
walkeft.
Hereby
try
we

upon

on;

increafe
of
Faith,
what ftrength thou gaineft daily againftcorruption,

tuall

power to wreftle

temptations, and

overcome the lulls

rebellions
of
thy heart; How
thou doll hold
on in
the confiant
pradife

holy
duties

Thefe
are
the
lively motions of the
new
creature. He
is
not
faid
properly to walk,
who
can
go twice
or
thrice about
his
chamber,
Dir
himfelf on
force
plain
ground for a
quarter
of
an
hour; but
he
that
can
go on ltrongly and freely
upon
a
hill,
in
wayes
uneven
:
So
Chriflians, who
can
go while God
maketh
their way
inoffenfive,
putting every thing

hinder, but
prefently
give
over, if
ought difturbeth

are
not
come to this
walking,

wayes

God
bath prepared
