and this end

needs be

better then the things madefor

thing

is

betterthen

all

the creatures,

but

onely God the

Creator

:

Hence

it

followeth that God

muff needs have

himfelfe

as his

end

in

every

thing which

he

worketh:

now

God

being

fo

perfell,

that he

needeth

not our good,that nothing

can

hurt him,or

make him

better

in

himfelfe:

hence it

followeth

that

his

end mutt needs befome

externaII matter,

as

the

making himfelfe

known,that

he

maybe

accordingly honored

of

us,

and

that to

the benefit

of

us

who

yeeld him this

honor.The

The

all

things are ours.

Gods

that

God

and his

glory

:

Now

thofe

two

former are

ends,to which

,not

for which God worketh. He that buildeth

a

houle,

that

he may lay

a

fouhdation,that he may

raife

it

the

due filling

which belongeth

to

it, but thefe

are

not

his

proper ends, but

that

he may

have

a

houfe for his

habitation:

So

God worketh

many

things to our

glory,

and

that

in us his

Chrift

may be glorious,

but the

proper

end

which

he

hath inall,is

his owne

glory.

Wherfore

feeing

this

is

Gods end,let

us in all

things labour toyeelde

whatfocver weare, let

us

be

for him.

We

in

glorifying

him,

from whom

we

come,

as

the *orkmanfhip ofhis

hands:It

is

certaine,

if

he

be not glorified

of

us,he will glorifie himfelfe

in

us.What

a

is

it

that we

fhould

not

have

his

glory,as the

Againe, thofe things which

all that
