in

his

difpenfation,

that what

his

juftice

doth,

it is

fuch,that

in

Come

fort

it

hath

a

refpeét

to,

and

is

ferviceable

to this

mo(l fupreame

end,

this

praife

of

his

grace ; this

is

it,

in

which

he moft delighteth

:

Even

as

ver-

tuous Kings after

the matters

of

God,

affect

above

all

things

to

be had

in

honor for

clemencie and

bounty;

fo

it

is

with our God,

King

of

Kings,

all he

doth

is

to this end,

that

his

grace may be made

manif,

f,

unto

his

greater

glory.

Men indeede may

Tooke

at praife

as

a

fpurre,but not drive

at

it,as their higheft

end;nay,they

may

not

feeke

it,but for

a

furtherend,

Gods glory

,

the good

of

others,

their owne

due

encouragement:

But

God

may

feeke his

glory

as his

utmofl end, becaufe bee

is

not

in

danger

of

Pride,

as

man

is,

and

there

is

none

higher then

himfelfe

to

whom

he

fhould have refpeél

;

this maketh him when he fheweth himfelfe

Mo-

proclaime this

in

without

comparifon above others.

The

ufeof

this is, firft,

to

to

glorifie

him

in

:

How

will fervants

who

belong to bountifull Lords, com-

mend

them for their

franke houfe-

keeping, liberality

to the

poore,

bounty

to

their followers

C

So

fhould we never ceafe

to

have this grace

in

our hearts and

mouthes,

to

his

glory who hath

(hewed it.

Let

us

not

be

like

thofe grounds,which fwallow

Seede, and

returne nothing

to the

Sower:They

are

not the

children

of

grace,

in

whornGod obtainethnot

this

; for all fuch

as

belong to

his

grace,he

hath

chofen them

to

this

end, that

his grace fhould

be knowne, praifed,and magnified

by them.
