Secondly, T-hefe whomChrift' reprefen ted and con– tracred for, in the covenant of g~ace, are the heaven– ly men, r Cor. xv. 47, 48. ' The firfi man is of the earth, earthy : the fecond man is the Lord from hea– ven. As· is the earthy, fuch are they alfo that are earthly : and as is the heaveqJy, fuch are they alfo that are heavenly.' Now, the heavenly men, belong– ing to Chrifi the fecond man, are none other but the elecr. For they are contradifiingui!hed to the earthy men, belonging to the firfi man ; to wit, all mankind · taken into the firfi covenant, in Adam : and therefore they are the elecr men, taken into the fecond cove– nant, in the fecond Adam.
