Negatively. And Secondly, Affirmatively. Negatively, What the wicked man (hall not be, what he (hall not attain to and then affirmatively, what the wicked man (hall be, or what (hall come upon him : The Negative part hath a gradation of four fteps : The firftis this, He (hall not be rich. The fecond is, His fubjiance (hall not continue. The third is, He(hall notprolong theperfeîlion thereof upon the earth. The fourth is this, He(hall not depart out of darknefs. Thofe are the Negative parts of his punifhments : The Af- firmative are two, Fiat, The flame /ball dry up his branch. Secondly, By the breath of his mouth he (gall go away. r. He fball not be rich. The words feem to carry an oppofition all along to the wicked mans purpofes and projeás. The wicked man faith in his heart, ifnot with his mouth, He will be rich ; to which God anfwers, He (hall not be rich. The Apofile (r Tim. 6. 9.) fpeaks of fuch a fort of RichWill -bees, That they mill be rich, fall into temptation, &c.
