There is, first, a natural! body ; fecondly, a civil( body ; and thirdly, an Ecclefiafticall body ; he doth not meant it ofthe natural( body, they were not prefently put to death, but they were drivenout of the civil! body of the Commonwealth, out ofCities and Corporations, out of Colledges and Univerfities, yeaout of the fpirituall body, or Churchfocieties ofthe faith- ful! people ofGod. They were fuch a generation ofmen, as were admitted no where, or no where permitted. They were driven forthfrom among men. The originali, loth not determine from whence, or from what body they were driven ; but faith only they were drivenfrom thebody ; to Phew, that they were not fit to be in any body or fociety of men whatfoever ; but were looked upon as polluted, and abominable, as unfurable to the manners, and burdenfome to the fpirits ofall honeft and wet- meaning men. Hence note ; Sin makesmen unfit for the company ofono. Awickedgeneration are not worthy to Iive,how much more, are techunworthy to live in the company of goodmen. And if good men, if ¡oft and honeft men, think the wicked unfit for their prefence, will God ( think you) admit them into his? Therefore David faith ('Prat. 5.4, 5. ) Thou at not a God that bath pleafure in vtickednes ( His meaning is, thou art highly difpleafed with it) neither fhalr evil, ( that is, any evill perlons ) dwell with thee ; the foolifh/ball not /land in thy fight , or, before thine eyes. And hence the Apottles conclufion is peremptory ( Heb. 12.14. ) without Wìnefs no man /hall fee God, that io, no man shall en`oy the pretence of God , or have communion with him, God will drive and banifh all the wicked, the pro - phane and unholy from his pretence for evermore. Davids re- folve as as peremptory againft fuch (Pfad. 101.3.) They ¡hall not abide in my fight ; As ifhe had laid, I will drive them out of my doores, yea I will {hut my doores upon them. And if they are unfit to abide in the houles of godly men, how unfit are they to be entertained into the Church ofGod ?
