that
by this period
inscribed,
it
appears
that
the Doctor
was
at
the time
of
their
composition, only
about
27 years
of
age.
This circumstance
is
mentioned,
that
so
distinguished
an Author
as
the Doctor might not be degraded

proper rank
by
the
severe
critic,
from
the publication
of
what

calculated
for
the
general
use of serious
Christians,

proprietor of
the

has no pecuniary object
in
view,
but
will
consider himself amply repaid if
he should
have reason to
hope,
that,
by
this publication, (born
as
it
were
out of
due
tine,
and
under
some
disadvantages) the
voice
of
him may again be more
particularly
and
usefully
attended to,
who,
though
long
dead, continues,
and will
continue to the latest period, both
in
prose
and
verse,
to
speak
to
the
edification
