There

is co

the conttituting

of

man,

three

things:

a.

A

foul.

2.

A

body.

3.

A

perfonall union

of

thefe

two to

one

man

:

So

there is,

one foul, even

the

one

body; the head,

the members, every beleever

How

What

union

is

this?

Or how

are we

the good

one

Again,

feeing we are one man,

they

Cor.5.17.

Now

to

underftand this, mark what it

is

to be an old one, and

that

ftandeth

in

two

things

:

a.

To

be

in

flefhly

corruption,

in

blindneffe, unrighteoufnefT,

unholincfl'e,to be overfpread with

darkneffe,

and

the

deceivable lulls

To

be under

the

difference, and

in

the

adminiftration

of'

out-

ward things. As

in

the outward

man,

there

is

difference

of

country,

of

liberty, of wealth,

of

learning, &c.

Now

to

bein

Chrift

a

new man,is

a.

to

have

the

fpirit

of

our minds

rencwed,cur

wills

altered,our

affections

fanc`ified;

to be made dead

to the

admiring

of

all

outward

things,

fwallowed

up

in

the

acknow-

ledgement

of

nothing but

Jefus

; and

this the Scripture

firmeth, which maketh

the

them all, and being

It

is

with

us as

with

wilde Olives graffs,

which grow

up

to

change,

according to the flock into

which they

are ingraffed

:

Thus

it is

with

the faithfUl,

who

finde,

that

fence

they

knew

Chrift

effelually,

their

mindes, wills

,

and affections have been

changed,

they

have

not

thought

fo

highly

of

outward things,

as

when they knew no

better.

Nay, they

acknowledge no man

as

bleffed, according to outward

things.

henceforth
