have immortal

fouls

together

with themfelves

though

pittiful

even to brute-

beafts. This

the

upon all

that

have

thefe

fouls with an honourable re-

confideting they

have

that that

is

of

much

worth.

fecondly

If

mans

foul

bee of

fo

much

worth,

how

can wee look upon many people,

but

have our hearts

railed in the

meditation of

the dreadfulnefs

of

Gods

men

made

man

an

excellent creature ,

and given

to

every one

a

foul more

worth than the world

;

but

now when wee look upon

Come

people

that

have loft

the

beauty

of their

fouls , and

notiv

have

no other

ufe

of their

fouls

, but

it

may

bee

all

their

dayes

to

bee imployed in fcraping

of kennels,

and

raking

in the dull-heaps

in

yourft

reets,

in

attending

upon

horfes

and

fwine, and this

is

all

that

they have

to

do

in their

lives

:

oh

what

a

low

condition

is

man

fallen

into , that

hath

no

other

ufe

of

fuch

a

rational immortal

fubftance

that

Cod

hath

given

him ,

but

meetly to make

him

ferviceable

all

his

daye

to tend

fwine, beafts, horfes, fcrape kennels

,

and

fuch

kinde of things

as

thefe are

But

you

will fay,

It.

is

lawful

for

men

to bee imployed

in

thefe, and

poor

people

muff

bee imployed

in them.

That

is

true,

It

is

lawful to bee imployed

in

fuch things

,

but

now

,

when men

and women have

fuch poor

and

meals

employment, and have

no higher thoughts

but meetly

to get

bread

by fuch imployir

eats

, and their

fouls buffed

all

their

dayes about nothing elfe

but

thofe

things,
