Heavenly

riches

irftnitely

good beyond

all

outward riches.

Chrif

is

Gods

:

---

You will

fay,

why have

they

not the

world then

in

poffèßïon

?

---

There

may

be.

right to

all

things,

&

yet not

poffe

fiion,

becaufe they are

not

in

a

nt

condition

for

them;

all

things are

to

work for

their

goo'

one

way or

other

:

as

all

the kingdomes of the world

are

tubiea

to Jefus Chrift,,

they are given up

to

him for

the

furtherance of

his

kingdome,

fo

all

the

things

in

the world

are

given

up

to

the

Saints for

the

furthering of their

good whole

is

the kingdome

of Heaven.

Seventhly, In

this kingdome are fpi

:ituall riches

that

may

countervaile

to the full,

and are

in:`

nicely

good beyond

all

outward riches

:

thou thinkeft

if

the State would give

thee

fo

much, thou wouldff be

a,happy man;

O that were

a

carnal

heart

prize more the

riches

of

the

world, then the

things

ofthe

kingdome

of

Heaven

;

The

things

of

the kingdome

of

Heaven

make

thee

rich in faith,

rich in

holineflè, rich

in

the p:omirer,

rich in

thy reference

to God

and

Chrift,

and rich in

the enjoy-

mews ofthe

holy

-C

hell

and

his gifts

and

graces..

Now thefe

things are

in

an

abundant manner

communicated in

the

king-

-dome

of

the

Melfìas,

more then they were in

the

times

of the

Law

:

Indeed

it

was

a

greater

evill

to be

a

poor

man

then,rhen

now

:

why

?

becaufe

then there

was

not

fuch a

plentiful! xnea-

fure

of

ipirìtuai riches communicated from

God,

but

it

was

referved to the

coming

of

the

Melfias

that there mould

be fuch

fpiritual riches

let

forth

and

communicated,

God

indeed

to

force few

did

communicate

his

friritual

riches

then,

and

there

were

force

eminent Godly people

in

the times

of

the

Law,fuch

as

Abraham

and

David,

but ordinarily they were very fcanty

in regard of the communications of fpirtruall things now, and

the

reafon was,

the Lord referved rho e fpirituall riches

to the

Meffìas

coming into

the world,

and

hence it

was

that

God

was

more indulg nt

in

the times

of

the

Law for

their outward

eftates,we

read

there,that

if

they

did but

walk

in

ways

of

obe-

dience to

Cod,they

were

for

the molt

part

abundantly

bit

f-

fed

in

cu.ward

things more then he

doth now,becauf: thatnoty

is

the

time of

communication

of

f

iricual

fiches.

If

thou

hac?it

liv'd

in

the

times

of

the Law,

It

is

very like

that

thou

would!

not have

been

fo

póoe,

but then

on

the other

fide

it's not

like.;
