glory

of the eternall

God

;

There

is

not

only

God alining up-

on

the

foul,

but

God

fhining

in

the

foul

that holds

forth

the

glory

of

God

to

the world:And herein

is

a

great

niyflery

of

the

excellency this righteoufneffe,

that

it

doth not

only

!lain

f

on}

God

upon

the

foul,

but

there

is a

fhining in

the

foul,

that

holds forth

the

fhine

óf the righteouineßè

upon

this

foule

to

all

the world.

Sixthly,

By

this righteoufneffe the glory

of

God

is

maintai-

ned in.the world.

This

is

that

which

holds up

Gods hotóur

in

the world,

what glory

íhould God

have in

the world

:

If

all

were

as

unrighteous

as

fome

are,

you

think that the

Saints

they

are little worth

:

Let

me

tell

you

iris

for

their,

fakes

that the

world

now

hands,

had

God

no

more honour

from fome

then

he

hath from

the moil of

you, what would

beconìe

of

you

?

'Tis

not

for your

fakes

the

woi

ld

is

continued, the world

is

not

worthy

of

thefe excellent ones, but

God

Both

continue

thefe

that

he

might

have glory

from

them,

faith

God,

I

have

made

a

world,

and

I

have

placed,

and

filled it

with

variety of

crea-

tures, but of

all

the

works

of

my

hands,

I

have

none

that

loth

give me

that

glory that my

Saints

doe, God

puts

fuch

a

prin-

ciple into

force

that they give

him

the glory

of

their

being,.

Now

is

not

this

a

moll excellent thing, and

moli

defireable,

that the creature

fhould

be

able

to

live

up

to

the

fulfilling

of

the

end

which

it

was

created

for..

Seventhly

,

By

this righteoufneffe

all

naturali

and

civili

righteoufneffe

is

raifed higher and

to

a

more glorious

con-

dition then

poffibly

it

couldbe

before,

there

is

no

anion

that

a

man can

doe that

bath

any

worth

in

it

any

further then

this Righteoufnefl'e

is

in

it

men

in

their

natúrall

eiiate they

worke from

a

naturali

principle;

but when grace comes

into the

heart,

this

inherent

righteoufneffe

;

The. foule works' in

natu-

rail

ac`iions,

from inward principles, and makes

thofe riólite-

Àus

aelions,

when

a

gracious

heart

follows his

calling, and

the

things

ofthe

world,

it

is

in

a

fpirituall

way,

carnuji

hearts'are

carnali

in

fpirituall things,

and

gracious,

hearts are fpiritúall in

naturals

things.

Eightly, Upon

the

receiving of

this

righteoufneffe,

every

alion.
