Triviledges of

the Children of

God.

God,

but

they are ufurpers. But

there

might be

a

miftake

in

that

;

for though

it's true,

all

our

right

is

loft,,

that mutt

be

granted

;

But

yet if God

by

a

free

donation

!hall

give

then

right,

!hall give

the

creature

againe

to wicked

men

,

give

the

Earth

to

the children

of

men,

we cannot

fay that they

are ufur-

pers, if

they

have

it

by

a

free

gift.from

God,

in

the time of

his

bounty and

patience towards the

wicked

But

yet

Rill they

have not

that right

that

the

children of

God

have

,

their right

is meerely

by

donation, but the right

that

the

child of

Cod

bath,

it

is

partly

by

purchafe, and

partly

by

inheritance

;

they

have

a

challenging

right, that

they can

in

a

bold and holy way,

even

challenge from

God

all

good

thing's

from

all

creatures

that they

have

need

of,

as

their

owne.

A

wicked man

may have

many comfortable things

in

the

world for

his

prefent

fubfi-

fiance,

and

I

dare not

fay

that

he

is a

ufurper

if

he

get

them

lawfully

for

God

in

his

bounty and

patience doth

give wick-

ed

men

thefe

things

;

and

we

fay,

what freer then gift

?

I

but

there's

no

wicked

men in

the

world

that

can

challenge thefe,

and

fay,

Lord there

are mine owne,

it's

mine

inheritance,

it's

my

purchafe

;

this

is

the priviledge of the children

of

God.

If

a

malefactor by

his offence

bath forfeited,

his eftate,

bath

forfeited

all

the right that

he bath

to the

good things in

a

Kin

-

dom

:

But

yet if

thofe

that

have fupream power

condemne

him,

fha11

out of

their

bounty grant

unto him

Tome:

provií on

for

his Supper

the

night before

he

is

to

be exccuted,you

cannot

fay

that he doth

ufurpe

it,

he

hath

a

right to

it,

that is, it's gi-

ven him,

though

he

bath

forfeited

all

:

And

truly

this

is

the

.

right that

wicked men

have

:

Is there not

a

great deale of

dif-

ference

now

between

*e

right that

a

child

bath at his Fathers

Table,

and

the right that

a

malefa6or

bath

the night

before

he

goes

to the

Gallowes

?

This

now

is

the differencebetween

the

right of the one

and

the

other,

even before the

Lord

:

Therefore

when

you

look upon your

eftates,

and

lee

your

hou-

fes

furnifhed

with

good furniture,

and look upon your Tables

and fee

them furnifhed

with

full

difhes;

Confider

what right,

you have

to

all

thefe

in

reference

unto

God

;

whether

it

be

meerely the

right

of

donation

;,

As

a malefactor- may have.to;
