On
the Excellency
of
the Soul.
t'
depart,
but that
thou
fhouldeft bee an undone Creature
for
ever.
Yea,
Shall
I yet
fay
further,
becaufe
it
is
a
point
of a
wonderful confequence for men
and
vvomen
to
put
them-
felves
to it
;
I
fear that there is
many
men and
vvomen
here
,
that yet
all
their lives
time
have not
put
this
que
flion
to
themfelves ,
What
are the rearms betvveen,
God
and
mee
?
why, I
hope
that
God
.vvill vvork grace
in
mee;
I
but
vvhat
hath God
done
?
is
it
fo
vvrought_
at
this
prefent, that if
I
were this moment
to
die,
I
were
in
a
fate condition , and the hazard
of
my
mifcarrying to
all
eternity
were over
?A
man
may
joyfully
go
thorow
all
condi-
tions
in
this world,
if
hee were able
to
fay,
well
,
vvhat-
ever befall mee
in
this
world , yet my condition
is
filch,
that
I
know
the hazard of
my
mifcarrying for
ever,
blef-
fe®t
bee God
that
is
over
:
Oh
that
people would but
put
this queftion
to
themfelves,
In
what
eflate
am
I
now
in, if I
were
to
die
this
inflan
?
Ninthly,
Wherefore
then
another thing
is
this',
That
foul
that
yet bath
not
gone beyond
thofe
that the
Scrip-
ture
doth brand and
note
for Hypocrites,
or
Reprobates,
if thou
haft yet no more
wrought
in
thee than the
Scrip-
ture
thews
that
they had, then certainly
if
thou
fhouldeft
now
die,
thou
muff
needs perifh,
As
now, the
Scrip-
ture
holds
forth
thee
examples.

The
Scripture tells
you
of
the
flog
-ground
.,
which
re-
ceived
the
word
with
joy.
Of

That
hee

Of

there of
which
the
Scripture
thus
fpeaks,
